Club Christmas Party 8th January 2010 -
Ken has mentioned that the provisional date for the annual Christmas party at Horsley Lodge shall be Friday 8th January 2010. Please let him know if you are going so he can make the necessary arrangements.

The Blackpool Weekender - Friday 9th to Sunday 11th May 2009
The annual club weekend trip to Blackpool and the Beaverbrook 10k run, staying in the very reasonable Park House Hotel, bed breakfast and evening meal. You don't have to run but it does make for a more enjoyable weekend. We leave Little Eaton by car around lunch Friday and arrive in Blackpool about mid afternoon, Most people choose to go for several drinks before returning to the hotel for an evening meal. Friday night is a enjoyable walk around Blackpool (pubs). Saturday is a leisurely day spent as you like but most spend the day in the pub though!!.Sunday is race day followed by a few drinks and some food then home about teatime. Online booking is available for the 10k here.

Easter Lake district Weekend - 21st -24th March 2008
This social event was put forward to celebrate the club's 10th year and has been met with a lot of interest.

The venue is Sykeside Campsite, next to Brotherswater, just off the Kirkstone Pass, near Patterdale. For those in caravans, campervans and those hardy enough to actually camp, please see the link below for further details:
Link for campsite and all accommodation http://www.sykeside.co.uk/
The link above may also be used for the less foolish who would like to stay indoors, with more warmth and proper beds (wimps!) as there is the option of staying in a bunk barn; or for the pampered the option of bed and breakfast at the Brotherswater Inn (at the same venue)!

The idea is to have a relaxing weekend, with people deciding whether to walk, run, cycle, shop in nearby Ambleside or Bowness or just sample the local beers!
Andre and I are happy to lead walks. Don't worry we have a map (Ordnance Survey Explorer OL5 English Lakes NE Area) and have done them before, but would welcome input from others familiar with the area. Bring good walking boots, warm clothing and wet weather gear as the weather can change from low cloud white-out and freezing wind-hill to sweltering heat, so layers are best with shorts and leggings. Helvellyn can be reached from the site on a good clear day, but it is a long hard walk demanding a very early start. Alternatively, you can complete a good circular route from Glenridding on Ullswater and there is a low level walk to a couple of pubs, for the faint hearted!

Dogs are welcome on the site...we'll be taking Jake who already knows his way around the local hills!

If you are interested in fell running, Sykeside is also the race venue for the Ian Hodgson Mountain Relay fell race, details to follow.
